Loyola: $5.2 Million Gift to Help York Road Initiative

Loyola University's York Road Initiative helps improve quality of life issues in neighborhoods east of its campus.

will use a $5.2 million gift, the largest outright gift by an individual in school history, to support “key university initiatives,” including its York Road Initiative, according to a news release from the university.

Ed Hanway, who graduated from the school in 1974 and is the current chairman of the Board of Trustees, and his wife Ellen made the gift. The school will also use the gift to support the university’s global studies program and its living learning communities for first-year-students and a fully endowed full scholarship, according to the news release.
