North Baltimore Students Named Carson Scholars

Several area students renewed scholarships awarded for academic achievement and humanitarian work.

Area students have renewed their Carson Scholarships for academic and volunteer works.

Carson Scholarships are awarded to "high-achieving students in grades 4-11 who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and humanitarian qualities," according to a news release from Baltimore County Public Schools.

Five students renewed their Carson Scholarships:

  • Anthony Wyler — grade 10 — The Boys' Latin School of Maryland
  • Joshua Hamburger — grade 12 — The Boys' Latin School of Maryland

714 students nationwide have renewed their Carson Scholar status as previous winners.

The scholars from the Mid-Atlantic will be honored at an awards banquet April 7 at Martin's West in Woodlawn. The event is open to the public.

Newscaster Sam Donaldson will be master of ceremonies.

Dr. Ben Carson, a renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, will be keynote speaker.
