Ramos to Announce Run for District 12 Council Seat

Odette Ramos, who announced in April that she would be running as a Democrat for the Baltimore City Council in District 12, will make it official tomorrow.

Odette Ramos, who announced in April that she would be running as a Democrat for the Baltimore City Council in District 12, will make it official tomorrow. 

Ramos, a Charles Village resident, is President and CEO of Strategic Management Consulting, a consulting company that helps companies, including many local nonprofits, "run efficiently so they can do their jobs effectively," according to the company website.

If elected, Ramos would be the first Hispanic city council member.  Ramos is Puerto Rican.

Ramos moved to Baltimore from New Mexico in 1991 to attend Goucher College, where she graduated with honors.

She earned her Master's Degree in Public Policy in 1996 from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University through the Harold Martin Fellowship. Ramos says she will be a "tireless advocate for our neighborhoods and our city".

Councilman Carl Stokes currently represents the District 12, but he has indicated that he will be running for mayor.

Ramos will make her official campaign announcement on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., at the corner of Lafayette and Barclay streets, near the mural in the new Greenmount West Community.
