'60 Minutes' Catches Up With Michael Phelps

The Rodgers Forge native is preparing for his fourth and final Olympics.

If you were watching WJZ on Sunday night, you may have caught Michael Phelps on "60 Minutes."

(What you didn't catch: the end of yesterday's Orioles game.)

Anderson Cooper interviewed the 26-year-old Rodgers Forge native as he preps for the London Olympics this summer. Check out the segment.

Phelps won a record eight gold medals in Beijing four years ago, and told Cooper he plans to retire after the London games.

After a period where Phelps reportedly lost interest in his early-morning practices, he's now back to a "sense of urgency," as Cooper put it, doing weight training and continuing a rigorous practice schedule.

Phelps has had some down times, including one weekend where he skipped out on practices to go to Las Vegas with friends, inspired by the film "The Hangover."

But with mere weeks to go to the games, he's training practically around the clock, even using a sleeping chamber that simulates a high-altitude environment.

Phelps wouldn't let the CBS cameras see it, though he tweeted a photo of the bed in question. The Baltimore Sun tracked down the folks in charge of building it.

I would love to watch this! I feel like it will be airing just in time for the 2012 summer olympics!

Missed the 60 minute special, but I definitely need to add that to my list to watch. I hope he has another successful Olympic season this year. I wonder what he plans to do after he retires?
