Friends Girls Advance To IAAM B Conference Championship Game

Lady Quakers edge St. John's Catholic Prep, 11-9

The Friends School girls lacrosse team defeated St. John’s Catholic Prep 11-9 on Thursday, to advance to the B conference championship game of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland.

The second-seeded Lady Quakers will face top-seeded Mercy, who defeated the Park School 14-7 on Thursday.

The championship contest will be played at the Gerstell Academy in Finksburg on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Emma Sissman led the Lady Quaker offense with four goals and one assist.  Abby Corkum scored three times with an assist, while Lucy Klein hit the net twice.  Ella Cooper, the team’s leading goal scorer, was held to one goal yet contributed five assists. Rachel Bolan scored once.

Rose Woolson had 17 saves in goal.

Friends improved its record to 14-3.  Two of the losses have come against their Saturday opponent: a 14-13 overtime loss at Friends on April 1 and a 13-11 decision at Mercy on April 26.
