Ray Rice Auctioning Jeep to Benefit Local Boston Marathon Bombing Victim

Erika Brannock, a Towson preschool teacher, lost a portion of her left leg following the attacks.

Here's a chance to own Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice's jeep while doing a good deed in the process.

Rice has put his 2013 Jeep Wrangler up for sale on eBay and will donate a portion of the proceeds to Erika Brannock, a Towson preschool teacher who was seriously injured in the Boston Marathon bombings.

WMAR reports that Rice considered this a way to help the Brannock family offset the high medical-costs associated with Erika Brannock's recovery. Brannock, who left Boston after a 50-day hospitalization, underwent 10 surgeries, including the amputation of her left leg above the knee.

"Well, cars come and go, and obviously, the value of them depreciates as soon as you come off the lot with them.," Rice said in the WMAR report. "And I felt like it’s something where if I can make something and be able to give it to somebody’s family who needs it, that’s very important to me."

The online auction ends at 6 p.m., Aug. 2, and has collected $43,000 as on Friday morning.

Brannock, a Hunt Valley resident, was the last of the bombing victims discharged from area hospitals. She attended the race to support her mother, who was participating for the first time.
