You Tell Us: What Do You Expect from the O's?

The Baltimore Orioles start their season at home on Friday against the Minnesota Twins.

So far this season it's been all about nostalgia for the Baltimore Orioles.

First the O's unveiled hats with an updated version of the cartoon bird that hasn't been used since 1989, when the team played in North Baltimore at Memorial Stadium.

And now with Opening Day on Friday, the team begins celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the opening of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The team is even bringing back former Orioles pitcher Rick Sutcliffe, who pitched a five-hit shutout in the first regular season game at the ball park, to throw out this year's ceremonial first pitch.

But all of this nostalgia can't erase the memories of the Orioles' more recent history. They've stunk since their last playoff appearance in 1997. In fact, they've had a losing record every year since.

That long drought of sub .500 baseball has left fans clamoring for a team that even approaches competency. An 82 win team would be cause for celebration from most orange and black fanatics.
