Charles Village Court Watch

Jamal Bailey is charged with the armed robbery (using a handgun) last November 9 of the Subway sandwich shop on the southeast corner of 33rd and St. Paul Streets.  In addition, he is charged with two counts each of robbery and first degree burglary allegedly committed last August 15.  I do not know any of the details of the latter alleged event.  He was scheduled for trial this afternoon in reception court.

When I saw that room 215 Courthouse West was still locked at 2 p.m., someone appeared and told me that everything scheduled in that courtroom had been moved to room 113, the courtroom of Judge Lawrence Fletcher-Hill.

The case was called by the assistant state's attorney, and she requested a postponement.  She noted that there was a plea offer from the state, and the defense attorney stated that the offer was not acceptable.  Judge Fletcher-Hill invited the attorneys to a bench conference to see whether the case could be resolved today, but after several minutes, it was stated that the case would not be resolved today.  The offer was not stated.

The new trial date will be Tuesday, September 10 at 11 in part 45 (room 420 Courthouse West).
