Frank MacArthur, aka A.F. James MacArthur, the blogger who live streamed his standoff with Baltimore police last year, will go to trial in May. MacArthur, 47, appeared in Baltimore Circuit Court for arraignment Monday and his trial date is scheduled to start 2 p.m., May 8. He pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing an unregistered shotgun and resisting arrest. MacArthur also asked that his bail be reset, but was told the arraignment was not the proper place for that request. He has been held without bail at the Baltimore City Detention Center since surrendering to police following a standoff outside his Waverly home on Dec. 1. A small group is planning to hold a vigil for the blogger A.F. James MacArthur, who broadcast his negotiations with police over the Internet during a standoff in Waverly earlier this month. According to a Facebook event, a group of about 28 people currently intend to hold a vigil and press conference from 4 to 7 p.m., on Dec. 20, outside of Baltimore Central Booking and Intake. "AF James MacArthur is an independent journalist with ‘The Baltimore Spectator.’ He was reporting on police brutality in Baltimore when he was arrested on very tenuous charges. Frank James MacArthur, aka A.F. James MacArthur, was denied bail for gun charges filed after his arrest Saturday night following a standoff with police in Waverly. A Baltimore State’s Attorney's spokesman confirmed that MacArthur had been denied bail on Wednesday afternoon. According to electronic court records, he faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm and for possession of an unregistered rifle/shotgun. MacArthur, 47, Tweeted during a nearly five-hour standoff with police, and live-streamed audio of his conversation with a police negotiator.
