(Updated 1:56 p.m.)—A Baltimore City police officer has been indicted in Baltimore County on misdemeanor charges of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, the Baltimore County State's Attorney's office said. Officer William S. Kern, 46, allegedly shot a University of Maryland Baltimore police trainee in the head during a training exercise at the Rosewood Center in Owings Mills in February. The grand jury indictment identifies the trainee as Raymond Northern Gray. Gray was critically injured. The robbers threatened to shoot the cyclist if they weren’t given money.
A cyclist had $120 stolen while riding through Charles Village. According to a police report, the cyclist was riding a bike at 8 p.m., Sept. 30 in the 2800 block of Guilford Avenue when robbers grabbed the bike and slammed the cyclist against a wall. One of the robbers told the cyclist: "Give me your money or I will shoot you." The cyclist complied and handed over the cash. The robbers took the money and ran east.

The schools rear door was pried open at some point during the weekend.
(UPDATE) 3:24 p.m.—The Community School in Remington is trying to move forward following a burglary during the weekend that resulted in six laptop computers being stolen. According to a police report, sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Sunday, a burglar was able to pry open the schools’ backdoor because the deadbolt wasn’t engaged and steal five MacBooks, three Mac minis, a video converter, another laptop, a photo scanner and various other computer related items. "It’s a set back for us," Tom Culotta, the school’s president, said. Culotta said the school is in the process of working with its insurance company to determine what it will replace. Police reported a woman was shot in the foot last week but that didn’t turn out to be the case.
Baltimore City police responded to reports of shots being fired at about 3:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Hickory Avenue on Thursday. When police arrived they found a 68-year-old woman suffering from wounds after a bullet had been fired through her front door. Initially police believed the woman was shot in the foot and reported that detail to Patch. But in the Northern District’s part one crime report, the incident was listed as an aggravated assault. Det. Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman, said the report of the woman being shot was given because officers at the scene believed the woman’s wound were from a bullet. Tom Kiefaber, the former owner of the Senator Theatre and City Council President candidate, was arrested for trespassing on Monday, according to Baltimore City police. Anthony Guglielmi, a police spokesman, confirmed via email that Kiefaber had been arrested. Maj. Sabrina Tapp-Harper, commander of the Northern District, said that Kiefaber was arrested at the Senator Theatre, 5904 York Road, at about 10 a.m. Monday. Tapp-Harper, who was not at the scene, said the supervisor that was there at the time of the arrest reported Kiefaber allegedly made threats to harm people inside the building, but could not confirm what exactly he said. Robbers claiming to be police robbed three people in a Charles Village home on Saturday. At 11:40 p.m., in the 2400 block of Calvert Street, the robbers rang the doorbell and were yelling "police." The robbers then entered the home, duct taped the residents’ hands and hit them with guns, according to a police report. "Where’s the money? We have all night to kill you," a robber told the residents. The residents then told the robbers where their money was kept. The robbers took $520 and ran away in an unknown direction. A man was robbed at gunpoint in Charles Village after the robber asked him for a cigarette. The man was walking in the 3000 block of St. Paul Street, at 11:15 p.m., when he was approached from behind by a robber who asked for a cigarette. When the man turned around, the robber pulled out a handgun and told him "give me everything," according to a police report. Police were called to the 3700 block of Hickory Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
A woman was shot in the foot Thursday night in Hampden. Officers were called to the 3748 Hickory Ave. at 3:31 p.m. for a report of shots fired, said Baltimore Police spokeswoman Det. Nicole Monroe. Once on the scene, the officers discovered a woman shot in the foot. She was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Northern District detectives are investigating the shooting. The officer made a tragic mistake. No intention " at all" to harm anyone. When I used to go through simulations ( war games in the military ) the weapons were checked several times to ensure safety. Only then did we go on the training area.Mistakes can cost lives and thankfully the person is still alive but "unfortunately " has permanet injuries.   more ›
