McCray Leaves Election Board To Seek State Legislature Seat

Cory McCray attempted to replace the late Del. Hattie Harrison earlier this year.

Cory McCray, who occasionally blogs about labor issue on Patch, announced he’s resigning his seat on the Baltimore City Board of Elections to pursue a seat in the House of Delegates in District 45. McCray announced his resignation from the board in a news release, and now must wait 30 days to officially begin his campaign. "Thank you for this opportunity to serve the people of Baltimore," McCray wrote in his resignation letter to Gov. Martin O’Malley. "My family and I look forward to assisting in the creation of a prosperous future for the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland." Earlier this year McCray, an Overlea resident, vied to fill the seat of Del. Hattie Harrison, who died and left her seat vacant during the General Assembly …

Cory McCray, who occasionally blogs about labor issues on Patch, wants to be appointed to replace longtime Del. Hattie Harrison, who died last week.   McCray, an Overlea resident, sent an email to possible supporters announcing that he had submitted his resume to the Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee to be considered to fill the open seat in the 45th District. "I understand that this interview process to fill the vacancy in the Maryland General Assembly for the 45th Legislative District is an uphill battle and an inside game, but many of the accomplishments of the last decade have been against the odds.
