Delegate Tweets Equality More Than Just Gay Marriage
Del. Jill Carter, D-District 41, sent messages via the social networking website that were critical of General Assembly colleagues.
Del. Jill P. Carter took to Twitter to vent her frustration with what she sees as the Maryland General Assembly's failure to deal with other issues regarding equality besides same-sex marriage. On Tuesday night Carter, who represents neighborhoods such as Roland Park and Mount Washington, sent messages from her account (@jillpcarter) accusing state lawmakers of forgetting about impoverished residents while forging ahead with same-sex marriage legislation. "I care about the children of same sex couples. But, I care about poor victims of lead poisoning the MGA has never addressed w/urgency or humanity," Carter wrote. Jason, why don't you get your own blog or post your comments on a more appropriate forum? The article was about one delegate's views (with whom I happen to agree). The bill has passed the house by 72 delegates and is poised to pass the senate today. I doubt your rants and robo posts have much impact here. I believe MD is eigth state to pass gay marriage. I predict all states will w/in next 5-7. …   more ›
