Ed, Once again I will answer about the Baltimore Colts. I was fortunate enough also to travel with the team and that I will never forget. Caroll Rosenbloom (CR) as we called him was a great ownner. The Colts used to have open arms to everyone who came in contact with them. I remember once when some race relations was a minor subject in the locker room, The president of the Baltimore Colts Don …   more ›

Kid Broadcaster Doesn't Pull Punches

Guilford resident Cullen Little, 12, is not afraid to say what he thinks when he appears on the Booker Corrigan Show.

Cullen Little is unrepentant. What he says on air as part of the "Booker Coorigan Show" on 1300 AM is what he believes. Even if his opinion is not popular, or may appear incorrect in hindsight, Cullen is standing by his view. "If I had any regrets I couldn’t keep doing [the radio show]," he said. Cullen doesn’t pull his punches either. Earlier in the year, he said on air the Ravens would be best served by letting quarterback Joe Flacco sign somewhere else next year. Despite Flacco leading his team to the Super Bowl, Cullen isn’t walking back his comments. "In my opinion he’s so inconsistent he could never be back [to the Super Bowl]," Cullen said. This stance is pretty brave for any broadcaster, especially one working in a tough sports …

Baltimore, Denver Mayors Bet on NFL Playoffs

If the Ravens lose the Washington Monument will be "bathed" in orange and blue lights.

If the Baltimore Ravens lose their divisional playoff game against the Denver Broncos Saturday, residents will have to deal with an ugly reminder of the loss due to a bet between Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. With a Ravens loss, the historic Washington Monument in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood would be bathed in blue and orange light as part of the terms of the bet, according to a news release. Rawlings-Blake will also have to send a platter of J.W. Faidley Seafood’s crab cakes to Hancock should the home team fail to come through. But if the Ravens pull off the upset—the team is a 10 point underdog heading into the game in Denver—Hancock will have to send a box of dry aged “cowboy cut” rib eye …

Ravens Bus Marks Start of Season at Cockeysville Body Shop

Tom Kelly's 1967 Volkswagen bus was parked outside his shop Tuesday morning.

Tom Kelly only goes to Ravens games occasionally. But when he does, the Long Green resident and Cockeysville business owner likes to make a statement. It's hard to miss his 1967 Volkswagen bus, decked in purple paint and covered in Baltimore football memorabilia. Tuesday, a day after the Ravens officially began their 2012 campaign, the bus was parked outside Kelly's Body Shop on York Road. "The first time I took this to the stadium [in 1998], I couldn't believe it. I thought It'd be no big deal with everybody else riding in. I pull this into the stadium and everybody who saw it just went crazy," Kelly said. The van's beginnings are simple enough—he picked it up in 1996 as a $600 fixer-upper and got to work replacing the seats, replacing …

Ed Reed's Football Camp: Teaching More than Just X's and O's

Ravens safety Ed Reed held his second annual football camp this week at Franklin High School. Reed uses the camp as an opportunity to teach lessons for on and off the football field.

The cost of Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed’s two-day football camp is a reasonable $90 per player. However, the approximately 150 middle and high school athletes who attended left not only with new football knowledge but, more importantly, life lessons that you simply cannot put a price on. Reed, along with several other of his Ravens teammates and former high school coaches, schooled the campers on points like defensive footwork, wide receiver stances and offensive line leverage. But the education did not stop there. The All-Pro safety’s passion for giving back to the community runs much deeper. “This is our future,” he said amid Thursday’s sun-drenched morning session. “We can come out and give some advice on academics, make sure the …
