One York Road neighborhood has seen three home invasions since February.
Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts is scheduled discuss his plans for the Baltimore Police Department with the York Road Partnership. The meeting is slated for 7:15 p.m., Wednesday at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 5502 York Road. "Commissioner Batts has created a new vision for a more bold, creative, innovative and fast-moving police department. Join us as he shares this vision and his safety plan for Baltimore," according to a message posted on the group’s Facebook page. Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts received a walking tour of Waverly from the people who know it best—the residents. Batts joined a citizen on patrol walk on Wednesday evening, along with Maj. Sabrina Tapp-Harper, the commander of the Northern District, and said community walks give him the ability to see firsthand the areas of the city addressed in Comstat meetings. "What's really good about these walks, it gives me time to listen to the public, and allow them to tell me: 'This is the issue. This is what I'd like you to do. Baltimore police are creating a new bureau focused on implementing best practices in ethics and integrity in the department. Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts announced the creation of the Bureau for Professional Standards and Accountability on Friday. "In order to maintain a sharp focus on crime reduction and earn the trust of our community, it’s vitally important to ensure our officers meet the highest standards of law enforcement," Batts said in a news release. Detective focused on residents with histories of robbery, domestic abuse and sexual assault.
The Baltimore police announced the arrest of 270 residents wanted on "priority warrants." The Warrant Apprehension Task Force focused on open warrants made the arrests this week of residents with histories of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and armed robbery, according to a news release. “The results of this warrant effort are a testament to the hard working men and women of the Baltimore Police Department who put their lives on the line each day to make this city safer,” said Police Commissioner Anthony Batts. “We will continue our focus on improving public safety and targeting individuals who are responsible for committing acts of violence in our community”
