Report: Dixon Resolves Probation Violations

Former Mayor Sheila Dixon made $27,000 in court ordered charity payments.

Former Mayor Sheila Dixon has resolved issues regarding a probation violation filed against her last month, according to multiple reports. Dixon paid the $27,000 remaining balance of the $45,000 court ordered charity payments that were part of her plea deal. Dixon had fallen more than $13,000 behind in her payments, and previously claimed she didn’t have the money to keep up, according to The Baltimore Sun. Dixon accepted a plea deal and resigned as mayor in 2010 after facing 12 charges of theft, perjury and misconduct in office. Dixon, who was appointed to finish the term of Gov. Martin O’Malley in 2006, was elected in her own right in 2007. She was the first woman to serve as the mayor of Baltimore.  Just about two years into her first …

My question is… what did she know? The state brought her down over the most minor of charges (we are not talking about her embezzling millions of dollars or being involved with organized crime). The move to let her keep her pension sounds like it was done so she would keep her mouth shut about larger statewide corruption possibly involving the governor and other city council members.
