ReplySome growth is a good thing. A vehement anti-growth-no-matter-what attitude is what prevents business like the co-op from being the success they can be.

ReplyThe type of duo that runs up on random individuals sticking them up with guns are petty, cowardly, two-bit thugs.

It took a sick man pulling the trigger to cause this. How about blaming him and not the guns? Certainly it wasn't the gun that made him do it.

ReplyIt's actually in the 3600 block of OLD York Rd which of course runs parallel to Greenmount/York Rd. I was on scene moments after police arrived. I've corrected the police via twitter, but they continue to put out the bad address to media. Go figure. Who needs accurate details right?

ReplyA bicycle criterium race series would bring lots of excitement, athletes of all abilities, and could be pulled of for a scant fraction of the price tag. Take a hint from the Baltimore Running Festival/Baltimore Marathon.
What started as a simple marathon is now a huge, nationally acclaimed, world renown, destination running event. Of course from the start, the event involved minimal tax payer dollars and is largely self funded by sponsors and entry fees.
People forget the Tour De France has been a huge successful bike race for 99 years now. Bike racing is big & growing, if done right.

On the article Baltimore Police: Man Fatally Shot in Pen Lucy

ReplyGreat article, bringing further light to a most troubled area of North Baltimore.
There is a lot of violence in this area. Some of it is put out by the police on twitter, much of it is not. A lot of it, you could talk to some locals, and even they are unaware. As a news hound, I have personally been on scene of numerous violent incidents within a block of this spot, and saw most of them NEVER reported by any media outlet in town. This is shameful.
Even the police who promised to put out every serious incident on twitter have fallen short when it comes to telling the true story of Pen Lucy.
It is one of few neighborhoods, that's seen so much violence over the years, it has it's very own memorial garden; with the names of local youth slain, etched in stone in remembrance.
Having been a home owner in the immediate vicinity for many years, I am intimately familiar with the area. Rev. Muth & I have exchanged many pleasant greetings and occasional polite conversation on many of my early morning dog walks.

On the article Councilman's Comments on Race Leave Colleagues Flummoxed

ReplyNow that we have the attention of the esteemed state Del. Jill P. Carter in the comment above, I would suggest the author of the story do a follow up, including an interview with the three term state legislator, former mayoral candidate. Baltimore sad's story of putting it's majority population on the back burner has a long dark history.
While Councilman Stokes comments may have evoked an emotional reaction from many, upon close examination of the way things seems to really work in this city, it's hard to disagree with some of the facts.

Totally understand the context your painted Mr. Foreman. It really was that way, but that was before the flow and delivery of information became democratized.
Now that anyone can produce news, and there are millions of places to get it, things have changed big time.
Newspapers are no longer the primary source of news they once were. They have to get a tighter focus and specialize in doing what others do, or they'll soon be extinct like the telegram. Eventually the telephone took over.
