ReplyI probably am the only person who will not miss Old Navy. Cheaply made clothes. I do wish they were putting something other than a shoe store there though.

ReplyI can't say I'm surprised. That places was always dead (no pun intended). We stopped in over St. Patty's day weekend and there was literally almost nobody in there. Sucks for the people that lost their jobs though.

On the article 3 Fire Companies Tend to Fallston Wood Fire

I never said the fire started at the shed, but the shed did in fact catch fire. Can't tell if you if it came from my neighbors fire pit, but there wasn't any sign of a fire in their fire pit while I was standing in their backyard watching the fire fighters. I was told it was a compost pile (which is what that is, it's very clearly not a wood pile) that had not been turned and then consequently caught fire. I arrived home just after the fire fighters arrived.
Do you live in the neighborhood Bob? Just curious if you're a neighbor I haven't met. We've been here a long time and I thought I knew most of the people right around the house.

While I'm also surprised that there has been nothing about the police chase, I will say that this fire could have been a very big deal. The shed that caught fire was filled with flammables and could have exploded if they hadn't put it out so quickly.
I understand that you might not care about that, but I can assure you that myself and my neighbors certainly did.

On the article Should Henryton Be Torn Down?

ReplyThis property would cost so much money to restore it's not even funny. I would hate to see the place go, I love taking pictures there, but it's honestly not in any kind of shape to have anything done to it except be demolished or left to rot. As for security, I'm pretty sure there isn't any at this point. I was there last weekend and this weekend that just passed and there were a lot of kids tagging, vandalizing, and just generally being loud and obnoxious (at least last weekend, this weekend it was just photographers) and no security showed up.
If you're interested in how the property looks these days, I have photos spanning from 2011 to this weekend. http://www.flickr.com/photos/23971340@N04/sets/72157633124940491/

On the article Report: Henryton Hospital to Be Demolished

Velma, there is no running water, heat, or electric supplied to the property. The copper piping has been stripped in many of the buildings and most of the buildings have extensive fire damage. That's not even getting into asbestos contamination.
I would hate to see the property torn down, but it is not in any sort of condition to be remodeled into anything. Take a look at the link I provided above, there are a decent amount of pictures of the inside and outside of the property.

ReplyI would hate to see this go, it's a very interesting place and always makes for some fun pictures. I do agree there is a problem with vandals and the fires, but I believe there is a better solution rather than tearing it down.

No they shouldn't. If they want to act like an adult and commit adult crimes then they should be treated like an adult. Now I'm not saying stick them in an adult prison, but the punishment shouldn't be any different because of their age. They need to understand that their actions have serious consequences. They should serve the same amount of time they would receive as an adult, not this "until they're 21" crap. There is no justice there. It's just a slap on the wrist.

ReplyAnd the sad part is that if you leave the keys in the car with it running and it's stolen the insurance company won't cover a dime.

Sean Bolans is a good bar in Bel Air. Gets a little crowded, but has the best atmosphere out of the Bel Air bars, in my opinion. You should go buy your first legal drink there :)
